William Golding was
affected by being a part of D- Day because of what war revealed about man's true nature to harm their fellow
humans. He was horrified by what the Nazis did to the Jews in concentration
camps, and by how the Japanese mistreated their prisoners. He too was disgusted
by what he himself did as a naval officer. If it weren't for the war he may
have not written his famous novel "Lord of the Flies".
I think that man is born with kindness
but learns to be barbaric because of the people man is surrounded by. Just like
how in the 60s whites hated us blacks for hundreds and hundreds of years. It
took a whole century to earn our freedom from captivity. There was even a war
fought over the Union and Confederates states when Abraham Lincoln passed the
Emancipation Proclamation. It starts with 1 that can multiply and cause more
people to hate.
