chapter 2

Dear diary,
 
     When we return from our mini expedition, I had blew into the conch shell to summon the other boys to another meeting on the beach. We discussed with them that there were are no adults on the island. However we had found some animals. We were patrolling through a the jungle and Jack found a trapped pig in the vines. When we puled it out from the sac the littluns were startled. I was very amused when I seen them running off away from the tied up pig.

    This afternoon, a boy with a mulberry-colored mark on his face, claims that he saw a snakelike monster the night before. I laughed at him because it was very funny. However, I did keep what the little boy said in mind.

     As I started to think about us possibly getting off this island, an idea popped up in my head. My idea was to build a large signal fire on top of the island’s mountain, so that any passing ship or plane would see that there are people stranded on the island. We used Piggy’s glasses to focus the sunlight and set the wood on fire. I set Jack and his group of hunters as the supervisors of the fire. They were to keep it going at all times, but somehow the set a bunch of trees on fire and they went ablaze. Later, I got a report from Piggy telling met that the boy with the mulberry mark on his face was playing by the fire and now is missing.

     The conch shell symbolizes civilization. It is used to hear the ideas of the boys without anyone talking or interrupting that person. The boys use it so that they can act civilized. They call meeting on the island with the conch at the platform. With this there is a way that everyone can talk and argue his or her case.        The beastie symbolizes fear. It comes to us as a snake-like animal. Although we have never seen it in the book, rather than with the actions of the boys, and how they act . We are introduced to it by the boy with the mulberry mark on his face. Jack uses fear to scare piggy/make him feel weak.         The fire symbolizes hope for the boys. The boys hope to get rescued on the island so they set a signal fire at the top of the mountain. With all the boys went through, the only have their faith in each other and that light at the top of the hill to get rescued....

Dear Diary,      Piggy and I went to the feast so that we would be able to keep some control over events. At the feast, the boys were enjoying themselves laughing and eating the roasted pig. Jack was sitting in a big chair like a throne languidly issuing commands. I don’t know what is going on with Jack. Was he really that jealous of me.        Jack extended an invitation to all of the remaining followers to join his tribe. Most of them accepted, my attempts of trying to persuade them to stay was a failure. What I the world is going through his mind right now?      I t started to rain, an idea came up in mind. How will they shelter themselves from rain. I asked jack how he plans to weather the storm without any shelter. In response, Jack orders his tribe to do its wild hunting dance. Final Blog Entry

Monday, May 01, 2017 5:00 AM   Write a short story (at least 5 paragraphs) about what happened after Ralph looked up and saw the naval officer.   What happened?   Did they go back home?   Are their parents alive?   Is Jack punished?   Use your imagination, but remember to write it as a short story NOT as an essay.       I came upon the beach I fell of exhaustion, luckily a naval officer rescued me from a near death experience. Whew, it is good to be alive. We were on the ship going home. The Captain fed us some chicken and broccoli. It was so good.   When I had gotten to the US my mom heard we were rescued.
