Chapter 10
Dear Diary,
The next morning I met with Piggy beach. We were bruised from
what had happen previously with us and Jack. We were both bruised and sore and feel
awkward and deeply ashamed from what had happened.
At the Castle Rock, Jack rules with absolute power. Boys are
punished for no reason. He had recently
tied up and beat a boy named Wilfred. He believes that Simon really was the
beast, and that the beast is capable of assuming any disguise. I wonder what he
is on?
Once again, as we slept we were attacked by a group of Jack’s
hunters. They had gotten me good this time. We don't know why we were attacked,
but hunters badly beat Ralph and his companions, who do not even know why they
were assaulted, for they gladly would have shared the fire with the other boys.
But Piggy knows why, for the hunters have stolen his glasses, and with them,
the power to make fire.
~ Ralph
